Bella Vita Studio bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Thanks so much for visiting a little piece of my world! This blog will have updates on recent photo shoots that I have done, as well as photos from my personal life.

A little about me.....I was born and raised on a farm in South Dakota but now I currently live in the Minneapolis area. Growing up on a farm with a dad who loved to take pictures was definitely my inspiration to go into photography. I have always been a people person and I love watching relationships between people, whether it be a mom and dad with their family or two couples in love, it all makes me giddy inside :-)  I love to have fun and have always been a happy go lucky kinda girl. Some of the things that make me happy are....my son, the smell of the rain, fresh mountain air, a trickling stream, the sound of a belly laugh, fresh baked cookies, planting flowers and watching them grow, skittles, a good board game with some competition, coffee, warm sand on my feet, and the peace that God gives me.

I hope that you enjoy looking at the pictures on my blog. They are what make my day brighter and my life truly blessed.  Thank you for visiting!

Jordan & Steph: Married

A couple weeks ago Jamie and I ventured to South Dakota for another fun wedding. Our adventure took us through the town of Walnut Grove (gotta love me some Laura Ingalls Wilder) and it also involved a couple missed turn offs and NO SERVICE! Thank you AT&T, when will your company ever figure it out that there are actually humans living in South Dakota who don’t drive horse and buggy??  The memories that we make on our out of town weddings are so priceless, I am thankful that I get the opportunity to go back to my home state and capture weddings. South Dakota will always have a special place in my heart :-)

So as far as the wedding goes…..Jordan and Steph…wow.. what can I say?? Your wedding was gorgeous, even though it was -10 wind chill, you two and your crazy love for each other made it seem like it was 80 degrees out :-) The love and support you have from your family and friends was very apparent as well and all those happy tears shed. You two are going to have a long and happy life together and I am excited to see where the road takes you two. Congrats once again!!  PS  I got a little carried away with the pics on this post :-) Enjoy!

S T U N N I N G!!!!

This is why I love having two photographers on the wedding day, two different perspectives. This was their first look, Jordans look on his face is priceless!

Look at those rockin legs!! Steph was an AMAZING runner in High School and college, I think they said at the wedding she can even beat Jordan :-)

Love the two different perspectives once again!

AWW Miss Macy, gotta love her!! Their first baby!!

another great pic by Jamie :-)

The ladies looking fierce!

Jamie and I went driving through the country the day before the wedding to look for the perfect tree. I think God was smiling on us because he led us to the perfect tree :-)

This image makes my heart happy :-) I LOVE GRANDPARENTS!!

Love the softness of this pic!

I felt inclined to share a composite of a couple of the dance images. Let me just tell you, this dance was once CRAZY party, so much fun! I think that "Save a horse ride a cowboy" was involved with some of these images. Oh and I should mention, the guy on the left was one of there awesome DJ's, they definitely knew how to get the crowd going!

~ 2010 Favorites ~

I know I am way behind on this, but I wanted to share with you the composites I made up of my favorite kids/family pictures from last year. ( I will do a separate post for weddings)  I am so thankful for all my clients/friends that I meet along the way and I couldn’t be more blessed to be doing what I love! I hope everyone has a beautiful and happy 2011!

Mackenzie: Class of 2011

Here is another one of my fun senior sessions I did while back in South Dakota. Mackenzie (AKA Mack) was a blast to photograph! She was game for every adventure I had planned out for her that day and it made for some fun pictures and priceless memories.

You see…. there is this great abandon farm/school house about 3 miles from my parents farm, and while I was out and about exploring I figured why not take her there for her pictures.  It was like a photographers heaven! I didn’t even realize you could go into the school house, but little did we know there was a door on the side that lead us to the inside which was fabulous (minus the animal droppings on the old couch).  We also ventured over to the old house and got some amazing pictures in there as well. I did manage to fall through the floor of the house and lose my flip flop (only one leg went through, thank God), but it was totally worth it.  I mean really….what photographer can say they fell through a floor while on a photo shoot, priceless.  I did take a picture of the hole and put it in this posting, totally hilarious!! I will never forget the day I fell through the floor, thank you Mack for being a part of it :-)

Mack, I had such a great time with you! Good luck with your future plans! You ROCK!

this is the awesome old school house we explored :-)

yep this picture on the left was taken right before I fell through the floor :-)

Love how the wall turned pink from her dress

Mack, you are stunning! This picture looks like a magazine ad :-)

Love her expression :-)

Cristian: Class of 2011

I know I am way behind on blogging, but I wanted to share a few of the senior shoots I did while I was back home a month ago. The first one is Cristian. His family is so much fun to be around, so when Marissa asked me to take his senior pics I was thrilled.  I gotta admit though,  I was a little nervous to photograph him, just because I feel like I am not that good at photographing senior boys, but once I got there and started taking pictures, it just flowed. I had a great time hanging with them, and his dad had all these fun ideas, it was cracking me up. Cristian, I know you are going to go far in life, good luck with your future endeavors.  :-)

Love this one!

This image is right up there with one of my favorites of all time. Marissa asked me to put this verse on there and I LOVE it!!

Mr.Mason

I still can’t believe how fast little kids grow up, it is so much fun to see how much they change, and only in 6 months.  He was all smiles for me and it totally made my day.

LOVE his face in this one!

Nolan & Sarah: Married

Last weekends wedding couldn’t have gotten any more amazing. Nolan and Sarah, you two are so perfect for each other and it was such a joy to be at your wedding.  Your laid back personalities and love for nature fit right in with mine, so maybe that is why everything just seemed to flow so well.  Thanks so much for asking us to be a part of your day,  it was amazing!! PS….this is a long post, I got a little carried away with the pictures :-)

I love first looks :-)

Sarah....you are stunning!!!!

She wore a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown and Sarah made that head piece, isn't that awesome.

My assistant Justin got the image on the left while I was I getting the image on the right

This image ranks right up there with one of my all time favorite weddding images. Nolan and Sarah....you guys ROCK!

Nolan looking fierce!!

Justin captured this one through the weeds, LOVE it!

LOVED their choice for dresses and suits. The guys ties look so sharp!

Look how happy they are? Love it, oh and how cute is the birdy at the feeder.

They made all their flowers. The farmers market sure hooked them up, love the colors!!

Just a couple details :-) The wedding was at Sarah's parents house and seriously, it was gorgeous!

Special thanks to Justin from Justin Mark Photography for assisting me!

Hoese Family

Loved this session with one of my favorite families! She always knows how to dress the kids really funky, I love it!! Even though I got a $45 parking ticket (really Minneapolis, what happened to the days of $10 parking tickets), it was totally worth every penny!

At the end of the session they whipped out the sidewalk chalk and went to town on one of the buildings. Love the sisterly love shown here. If you can read one of them says Ellie rocks more than Izzy :-)

They are such posers, it was so much fun!!

Gorgeous! Dad watch out!

Probably one of my favorites from the session!

Can't even stand how cute she is!!

Farm Family Love

I met Jordan and Steph for the first time last week and wow, they are so perfect for each other.   They seem to know each other so well and everything just seems so right, just like two peas in a pod.  Once again….I had a great time capturing the love between the two of them and I can’t wait to photograph their fun winter wedding!!
